If you have any Pinterest installation tags previously added to your website by a 3rd party tool or a template, you’ll need to remove them first. If you don’t have anything added, you can move on to the next step 🙂
PS: To make sure, you can go to your Pinterest Business account > ”Ads” > ”Conversions” > “View Tag Health” > “Event History”; an empty “Event History” page indicates no added tags, and vice versa if you see any data.
Once you remove the tag from your website, head to your Pinterest Business account > “Ads” > “Conversions”, and note your Pinterest Tag ID.
Head to GTM Admin > “Variables” > “User-defined Variables”, and click on “constant - Pinterest ID”. In here, edit the variable with your Pinterest Tag ID & click SAVE .
Now, click on “Tags” from the left-side menu, and find the tags starting with 007.
Tags numbered 007.01 & 007.02 are essential for Pinterest tracking to work, whereas 03-06 are optional to use depending on which events you wish to follow. Once you make your decision, activate (unpause) the tags, and “Submit” your container to make these changes live. All done!
