Let's dive into learning how to upgrade our app and so that you can enjoy the new features!
Upgrade the Codes
Before starting to upgrade your Analyzify to v3, the liquid files in the theme and the Analyzify render lines in the theme.liquid file should be deleted.
Then, search for the theme.liquid file and delete the line where Analyzify was injected.
If you are a Shopify Plus Store, search for checkout.liquid in the theme.liquid file and again delete the Analyzify line.
To delete the liquid files, head to your Shopify Admin panel > “Online Store” > “Themes” > “Edit code”, search for the analyzify-gtm-body.liquid file, and delete it.
If you are a Shopify Plus store, you should also delete the analyzify-gtm-checkout.liquid file.
Visit Shopify Admin > Online Store > Themes. Choose the theme you want to integrate Analyzify with and click "Customize". Go to "App Embeds", enable Analyzify, and click SAVE.
Issues to be considered:
- In some cases, the Google Tag Manager script may be embedded in the theme.liquid file. When that’s the case, we recommend that you search for the word "gtm" (with CTRL+F ) in the theme.liquid file and check.
- In order to ensure that the Analyzify codes are completely deleted in the theme, checks should be made with the Google Chrome Tag Assistant extension after deletion.
Upgrade the GTM Container
After enabling the Analyzify App Embed extension on your theme, open your Google Tag Manager account to install the v3 container.
Analyzify versions (3.2 and later) use different tags, triggers, and variable names compared to earlier versions. Therefore, you must ensure that the tags you use outside of the Standard Analyzify installation, and the variables or triggers they use, are updated to match the current version.
➡️ To do this, you should first import the GTM JSON file you downloaded from the Analyzify app into a different Workspace using the Override method.
➡️ Start by identifying any tags in your Default Workspace that are not included in the Analyzify Standard installation. This includes custom-created Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tags, Google Ads tags, and any other integrations that are not part of the standard Google Tag Manager (GTM) setup provided by Analyzify.
➡️ Once you have identified these tags, you need to transfer each one to the new Workspace you have created. This process must be done individually for each tag.
➡️ If you are not well-versed in navigating and using the Google Tag Manager, or if you find this process confusing, it's advisable to reach out to us for assistance. Our team can provide the necessary guidance or help with the process.
Update the Checkout Code
After updating both your theme and container, you should lastly update the checkout code.
Head to Setup > "Code Injections" step, and copy the code.
Then, go to Shopify Settings > Checkout > Scroll Down for “Order Status Page” (or simply click the link in the next substep to be redirected :) ), delete our old script here, and paste the one that you copied from the app.
While doing this, you should not delete the codes you added yourself.
From here, the rest of the setup steps are the same. Once you are done, enjoy the brand-new version of Analyzify 🥳!
