You might be confused about Universal Analytics and GA4, but there is no need to be.
🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Google has replaced Universal Analytics with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) as the latest version. As a result, UA sections are no longer valid. Instead, you can check out our new step-by-step guide on Shopify & GA4 integration:
Create a new Google Analytics 4 property on top of your existing UA property with this guide.
For now, do not remove your Universal Analytics setup.
Set up Google Analytics 4 on your Shopify store - make sure to have all the e-commerce tracking capabilities. If you need any help, check out this guide.
Follow our guide to validate your new GA4 setup and make sure everything is working properly.
Use our checklist and suggestions to improve your GA4 reporting and get the most out of your data.
A few important notes about some stuff that are highly asked by our merchants:
- Your existing Universal Analytics setup and the data there won’t be affected. You can consider GA4 as an almost new account.
- The existing (old) data and reports won’t be carried over to GA4. So the reporting will start from the day you complete your GA4 setup.
